Will Vietnam intervene and help North Korea if war breaks out between South Korea and North Korea?


During the Vietnam war, North Korea provided substantial economic and military aid to North Vietnam
North Korea sent a fighter squadron to North Vietnam to back up the North Vietnamese
North Korea also sent weapons, ammunition and two million sets of uniforms

Vietnam is a very pragmatic country, and the Vietnamese government has always been pragmatic in every issue not related to the Party staying in power and Vietnam’s own sovereignty. They have absolutely nothing to gain by siding with North Korea, and have been incredibly supportive of South Korean enterprises setting up shop.
Samsung alone represents 20–30% of Vietnam’s export turnover! That represents so much tax dollars and economic activity, no way is Vietnam going to jeopardize that relationship! Especially since Vietnam keeps getting into spats with China, South Korea represents a strategic, wealthy and reasonably powerful friend, with South Korean companies significantly contributing to the Vietnamese governments budget, whereas North Korea is of no strategic importance to Vietnam. Heck, they might even send military support to help South Korea should war break out!
