Below are some facts which are unknown to an average Indian:
  • The Indian National Flag was derived from the design of Pingali Venkayya. The current flag is a slightly modified version of Pingali Venkayya's flag. This is his picture:

  • The Leh Radio Station is the Highest Radio Station in the world.
  • There is a crossing in Nagpur where the trains move North-South and East-West perpendicularly. It is one of its kind.
  • Air India was founded by J.R.D. Tata as Tata Air in 1932. It was acquired by the Government of India in 1948.
  • The image of Mahatma Gandhi in the currency notes is not a piece of art. It has been cropped from the photograph which was taken at his meeting with Lord Pethic Lawrence in 1946.
  • Marshal/Field Marshal are the highest ranks of the Indian Armed Forces. A Marshal remains in service until deathMarshal Arjan Singh is the only living officer of this rank.
  • The largest district of India is Kachchh in the state of Gujarat. It has an area of 45,674 km².
  • The Lion Tailed Macaque is exclusive to India. It is found in the tropical forests of Kerala.
