Sundar Pichai, as we all know, is the CEO of Google making India proud. But I don't understand why. Is it just because he is an Indian? Same goes with Satya Nadella or any other big shot Indian holding a key position in non Indian MNCs.
What's to be proud of someone who is using their brains and knowledge outside India? How does their contribution to the Americas help India? Okay Indians can now be recognised as really intellectual and skillful people, but then when such people are grabbed by companies outside India, how does that help India at all???
We all love Abdul Kalam, one main reason is that though he was an extremely successful scientist, he had absolutely no interest in money or fame. He took birth and gave his life in India. For India.
If people like Sundar Pichai and Satya Nadella can start something as great as Google and Microsoft in India employing all their knowledge and expertise here, for this nation, Indians have all the reason to be proud. When all they care about is their current position, why should we talk about them as the ones who are making India proud??
How many Indian army officers' names do we know? How many Indian martyrs do we know? How many of us knew Mary Kom before the movie came out? How many of us actually care about people who are striving to make India proud, in India?

Who is this man? Okay, some of us may have come across his story on Facebook or something, how many of us remember it?
He is Mr. Kalyanasundaram. A librarian who donated almost everything he earned to the needy. Once he retired, he donated his pension amounting to Rs. 10 lakhs to the needy. His awards, a whopping Rs. 30 Crores, again went to the needy. Can we recognise him if we see him on the road walking next to us? 99% of us cannot.

Isn't it high time we start giving credit to those who actually make us proud?
And are we doing that? Not so sure.
